For our foreign trade colleagues who’ve burned the midnight oil on international orders and global market connections, a well-deserved break was long overdue! To boost team spirit, strengthen bonds and help everyone unwind, the company’s foreign trade department launched its debut travel team building adventure. Themed “Trace Culture, Bond as One”, we followed the sea breeze to explore Quanzhou’s Xunpu Village, admire views at Xiamen’s Twin Towers and Gulangyu, and finally indulge in Shantou’s mouth-watering delicacies. It was a fantastic journey filled with cultural delights, coastal charm and warm camaraderie—creating unforgettable memories for every team member!
Our first stop? The charming Xunpu Village in Quanzhou, a historic starting point of the Maritime Silk Road! Here, we explored the iconic thousand-year-old “flower hairpin” tradition (Zanhua Wei in Chinese, a traditional headdress crafted by weaving fresh seasonal flowers into a circular wreath)—a national intangible cultural heritage and vivid postcard of cultural exchange. Colleagues had great fun dressing up in traditional Xunpu women’s outfits and adorning their heads with these vibrant “mobile garden” wreaths. Wandering among unique oyster shell houses (Keqiao Cuo in Chinese, traditional dwellings built with oyster shells, a distinctive coastal architectural style) and bustling fish markets, we felt the hardworking spirit of Minnan fishermen and the inclusiveness of Chinese culture. Everyone helped fix each other’s flower wreaths and snap fun photos—gaps from time zones and busy work vanished instantly, replaced by laughter echoing through the ancient lanes!
Next, we followed the sea breeze to Xiamen, a stunning coastal city! Climbing to the top of the Twin Towers, we were amazed by the 360° panoramic view: the city blending seamlessly with the sea, blue waves kissing the skyline—a perfect way to relieve work stress! We then roamed Gulangyu, the “Island of Music”, where every alley hides a surprise and every old building tells a story. Colleagues grouped up: some chased piano melodies to find cute corner shops, while others chatted about work and life on the seaside boardwalk, covering global market trends to funny daily anecdotes and strengthening our bonds in the laid-back vibe. We even held an impromptu “Foreign Trade Treasure Hunt”! Integrating product knowledge and customer communication scenarios into clues, solving them together tested our teamwork and made business thinking enjoyable and rewarding!
The trip’s grand finale? A food feast in Shantou, hailed as the “kingdom of delicacies”! Think chewy Dahao fish balls, savory Laomagong zongzi (traditional stuffed glutinous rice dumplings), aromatic Chaoshan rice rolls, and crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside oyster omelets—every bite burst with flavor, melting away all tiredness! Around the dining table, we chatted freely, sharing trip insights, exchanging work tips and talking about small frustrations. From Quanzhou’s cultural fun to Xiamen’s team games and this heartfelt Shantou meal, our team spirit grew stronger by the day!
This debut team building trip was more than a vacation—it let us discover the unique charm of Minnan and Chaoshan cultures, and achieved our goal of relaxing, bonding and recharging. As the company’s “global connectors”, our foreign trade team works tirelessly to explore markets and satisfy customers. This trip helped us strike a perfect work-life balance and build deeper friendships to strengthen our team further.
